| Various types of Vine growing |
There exist important differences between the various types in vine growing, namely:
Reasoned vine growing: Will to limit the contribution of the chemical molecules by choosing the best moment, the minimal amounts, the most ecological possible products.
Biological vine growing: Will to support a balance between the various diseases and the various insects present in the vineyard. No chemical molecule of synthesis can be used.
The vine growing biodynamics: In addition to the concepts related to the biological vine growing, the idea is to instigate the vine by helping it to resist by itself the aggressions external (diseases, insects and products spread in the vicinity) using natural products used with homeopathic amounts such as the nettle, prêle,…
A better result is obtained by choosing the good dates for each operation (size, spreading, trimming…).
One will not speak about the intensive vine growing which could not satisfy a fine palate!
You will find hereafter more details on agriculture “Biodynamics” which is at the origin of the vine growing biodynamics.
Recall on agriculture Biodynamics
A definition:
According to, the House of Agriculture Biodynamics, the latter is defined as:
“An agriculture ensuring the health of the ground and the plants to get a healthy food with the animals and the Men.”
“It is based on a deep comprehension of the laws of “alive” acquired by a qualitative/total vision of nature. She considers that nature is degraded currently so much that she is not able any more to cure itself and that it is necessary to give again on the ground its fertile vitality essential to the health of the plants, the animals and the Men thanks to therapeutic processes”.
The farmers biodynamic are aware of their responsibility with respect to the Earth and the Men whom they nourish. They bring answers to our desire to take part in a true respect of the environment and human being to us.
A little history:
In the years which followed the First World War, traditional agriculture had made place with an agriculture which resorted enormously to chemistry and the machines to increase the outputs and profitability. But the exclusive research of the quantity harmed the quality of the products, the ground and the animals, transformed into “machines to produce” became sterile. Always more manures proved to be necessary. Also farmers and anxious scientists of this situation felt the urgent need for a new impulse in agriculture. Since 1924, farmers and scientists asked Steiner (starting from its knowledge of nature) if it could help them with better including/understanding the ground, the plants and the animals and the adviser in their practices of culture. Rudolf Steiner posed the bases in a new way to find a bond with the ground and to work it. This agriculture, soon called “biodynamics”, proposes to the farmers a method modern, scientific, to conceive nature, the elements, minerals, the plants and the animals, in a concern of respecting the environment and of looking after the man by a food of quality in an alive and diversified landscape. For fifty years, the farmers have used the “Calendar of Sowing” resulting from research in agriculture biodynamics carried out by Maria and Matthias THUN.
Of what the BIODYNAMY consists:
It is about a PHILOSOPHY… TO LOOK AFTER the GROUND which consists with: • To observe and apprehend living it,
• To carry out the farm or the field towards an alive entity, balanced,
• To produce advantageous food with the evolution of the Man and animal
• To support equitable commercial exchanges.
Which are the practices of the BIODYNAMY:
• To increase the vitality of the ground and the plant (contribution of preparations in the compost, pulverizations of herb teas and instigated preparations, refusal of the GMO and the chemicals of synthesis).
• To select varieties and races related to the soil.
• To work by taking account of the cosmic influences, the forces of life and to respect the natural rates/rhythms.
• To work and maintain the landscape.
• To support the bonds with the consumers.
Which are the results of the BIODYNAMY: • To produce food of quality Demeter (Mark which makes it possible to recognize the products resulting from agriculture biodynamics.)
• To maintain biodiversity
• To express the soil
• To improve the life and the structure of the ground by the use of the biodynamics preparations
• To create jobs
• To develop community life
Which are the contributions of this agriculture for the vine growing:
For a few years, certain famous fields, but also of the independent wine growers have had recourse to the vine growing in biodynamy with an aim of improving quality of their wine. Many experts agree to say that “the biodynamy makes it possible the wine to restore the personality of its soil and to give again a direction with the concept of name of controlled origin (AOC)”.
The purpose of the biodynamy is of ressourcer the ground in order to strengthen the vine. This one will find thus the whole of the elements (water, rock salt, trace elements) supporting a healthy development.
In practice, it is a question of working the ground: in winter, the hiling up of the vines, in spring a décompaction, a baring and a weeding using claws. The opening of the ground supports its ventilation and allows him to produce the best fruit.
The fertilization is based on the use of a natural compost of manure and straws. This one breaks up during one year before being hidden the winter, making it possible the ground to assimilate it, thus giving again on the ground its organic matter contribution. The fauna of the ground degrades this organic matter, develops and at the same time airs the ground.
This mode of development keeps with the wine its integrity and its purity. The authentic wine still exists!!!
Organic farming with the honor
Michel Barnier chaired Wednesday, September 12 the Large Council of Orientation of Agency BIO.
|
Affirming with determination its engagement for the development of the organic farming, the Minister proposed an action plan coherent and total “organic farming: horizon 2012” with for objective leading the French offer to satisfy the request of the consumers, in this term.
|
Within the framework of this political volunteer, the Minister entrusted two new missions to the INAO concerning of the important shutters of this plan:
|
To work with the definition of new rules in the field of the collective restoration, for being force of proposal at community level on this new field of application.
- In addition it placed at the INAO a permanent work group ensuring a bond between the public authorities and the professionals so that are taken into account the needs for the biological farmers in the plant health field. |
